Board Treasurer Role Description
Position Title: Treasurer
Reports To: Board Chair/President
Term of Office: Three Years, Renewable
Role Overview:
The Treasurer is a vital member of the Board of Directors of VISION Inc. and plays a crucial role in the financial oversight and management of the organization. This role ensures fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability in pursuing the organization's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Oversight:

Review and provide input on the organization's annual budget, financial plans, and policies.

Monitor the organization's financial health, including regularly reviewing financial statements, reports, and financial performance indicators.

Work collaboratively with the Finance Committee, Executive Director, and other board members to ensure sound financial management.
2. Financial Reporting:**

Prepare and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and financial forecasts, to the board at regular meetings.

Ensure that accurate financial records are maintained and made available for audit as required.
3. Budget Management:

Participate in the annual budget development, working closely with staff and other board members.

Monitor budget performance throughout the year, identifying and addressing any significant variances.
4. Financial Policy and Compliance:

Assist in developing and maintaining financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Keep the board informed about changes in financial regulations and reporting requirements.
5. Banking and Investments:

Oversee the organization's banking relationships, including managing bank accounts and investments.

Ensure that investment policies align with the organization's financial goals and risk tolerance.
6. Fundraising and Grant Management:

Collaborate with the Development Committee and Executive Director in financial aspects of fundraising, grant applications, and reporting to donors and grantors.

Maintain accurate records of restricted funds and ensure they are used per donor restrictions.
7. Audit and Compliance:

Liaise with external auditors and assist in preparing audited financial statements and tax returns.

Ensure that the organization complies with all tax and regulatory requirements.

Time Commitment:
